Cerebral White Matter Stimulation Using Noninvasive Methods
Basic Information
| Recruitment status | Recruiting |
|---|---|
| Health condition(s) or Problem(s) studied | Not applicable, as the participants are healthy volunteers. |
| Date of first enrollment | 25/05/2026 |
| Target sample size | 15 |
| Countries of recruitment | |
| Study type | Interventional |
| Intervention(s) | At the first session, MRI scans for navigation purposes will be acquired. During the second session, the primary motor cortex will first be stimulated using a transcranial magnetic stimulation device with navigation and motor evoked potentials (MEPs) to confirm that responses can be elicited. Subsequently, one of the following tasks will be performed before and after transcranial ultrasound stimulation. Part A: muscle strength assessment (measured using motor evoked potentials); Part B: object naming and verbal fluency tasks; Part C: line bisection test and star cancellation test. Finally, a questionnaire regarding adverse events will be administered. |
Outcome(s)
| Primary Outcome | Safety, Detectability |
|---|---|
| Secondary Outcome | This includes the completion status of all MRI, transcranial magnetic stimulations, transcranial ultrasound stimulations, brain function tests, and adverse event questionnaires. |
