Study of Footstool Use in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease: Blood Pressure Changes During Defecation

Intervention(s)Two defecation conditions will be established: without a footstool and with a footstool, and measurements will be performed in a crossover manner. Each condition will be assessed with 1 to 2 repeated sets of measurements and used for comparison of blood pressure changes during defecation. At enrollment, participants will be randomly assigned to one of the following two measurement sequences: Group A-1st: without footstool, 2nd: with footstool, 3rd: without footstool, 4th: with footstool Group B-1st: with footstool, 2nd: without footstool, 3rd: with footstool, 4th: without footstool

Outcome(s)

Primary OutcomeDifference in blood pressure measurements before and after defecation
Secondary OutcomeCardiovascular events during hospitalization and after discharge

Age minimum>= 20age old

Include criteriaPatients with cardiovascular disease who are hospitalized at our institution on or after April 2026 and have completed acute-phase treatment
Exclude criteriaUnder 20 years of age, pregnant women, body weight over 100 kg, and status post stoma creation
